Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Steadworthy — the website at steadworthy.org, the free Compliance Scan, and the paid subscription services. By using Steadworthy, you agree to them. If you are using Steadworthyon behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to act for that organization, and “you” means the organization.
1. What Steadworthy is
Steadworthy is a software platform that helps charitable organizations understand and manage state charitable solicitation registration. We compile public records, compute deadlines and fees from cited state rules, prepare filings from information you provide, and — on plans that include it — monitor public registries for changes affecting your organization.
Steadworthy is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. No attorney-client relationship is created by using the service. Our Disclaimer is part of these terms.
2. The free Compliance Scan
The scan is informational and provided as-is, without any warranty. It reports what public records show as of the dates displayed. You may not use the scan to build a competing dataset, scrape results in bulk, or run automated queries.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for your account credentials and for the accuracy of the information you provide. Filings we prepare are generated from your profile — if the profile is wrong, the filings will be wrong. Claiming an organization is limited to people authorized to act for it; we may remove claims we determine were made without authority.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Plans are billed in advance through Stripe, monthly or annually per the published price at the time you subscribe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can cancel any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not prorate partial periods.
- State filing fees are always passed through at face value — we never mark them up. Fulfillment services (printing, certified mail, check disbursement) are charged à la carte at published rates.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply at your next renewal.
5. Filings and approvals
Where Steadworthy prepares or submits registrations on your behalf, you remain responsible for reviewing and approving them. States make their own determinations; we do not guarantee that any state will accept a filing, grant an exemption, or process anything within a particular time.
6. Your data
Our Privacy Policy describes what we collect and how we use it. You retain ownership of the documents and information you upload; you grant us the license needed to operate the service — to store your documents, generate your filings, and display your compliance information to you and the people you share it with.
7. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no unlawful use, no misrepresenting your authority over an organization, no attempting to access other organizations' data, no probing or disrupting our infrastructure, and no reselling the service without a written agreement with us.
8. Intellectual property
Steadworthy, including our rules content, software, and brand, belongs to us and our licensors. Statutes and public records belong to no one — our compilation, citations, and analysis of them belong to us.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including penalties or fees assessed by any government agency.
10. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms. On termination, you can export your documents for 30 days; after that we may delete them per our retention practices.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or in the product at least 14 days before they take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
