Our information comes from public records

Statuses shown by Steadworthyreflect public records — IRS publications and state charity registries — as of the dates shown alongside them. When we say “No registration found as of [date],” that is exactly what we mean: we did not find a matching registration in the public registry we checked on that date. It is a statement about a public record, not a conclusion about your legal status.

Public registries lag. A state may take weeks or months to reflect a filing it has received, and some records never appear in the bulk data states publish. Where we cannot confidently match your organization in a registry, we say “Unverifiable” rather than guessing.

Requirements and exemptions are cited, not guaranteed

Where we describe a registration requirement, deadline, fee, or likely exemption, we cite the statute, regulation, or official source it comes from, along with the date we last verified it. States change their rules; despite continuous monitoring, our information may be out of date at any given moment. “Likely exempt” means your organization's public IRS profile matches the cited exemption criteria — the state, not Steadworthy, decides whether an exemption applies.
